Character Post: Marpessa

So I thought I'd do a new thing and focus on my individual character's stories. The great thing about WoW (and what I thought was missing in SWTOR) is that I have much more freedom to create the background for my character. I'm not going into full blown storytelling mode here, just a little bit of background. This is actually a Transmog project for me, because I want to create outfits for each part of their storyline. There will most likely be 3-4 outfits, depending on their adventures in each expansion. I'm excited to do this project, because transmog is a passion of mine, and this is a good exercise for me to try and be more creative. However, have to admit, farming for these outfits is a pain in the ass.

Marpessa Duskbreaker
Blood Elf Hunter
(all my information is from wowpedia.org. If I have a canon error, I'm sorry and I'll try and correct it.)

-Before she became a more active member of the Horde, Marpessa was a Ranger Lord for the Farstriders, a group within the Blood Elves made up primarily of rangers who had survived the attack on Quel'Thalas. Marpessa was younger when the Scourge all but destroyed her home.  She received the high rank of Ranger Lord thanks to her incredible sharpshooting skills and keen eye sight. Once dedicated and responsible, the attack on Quel'Thalas forever changed Marpessa.
Farstrider Outfit

The Farstrider NPCs within the game typically wear the same blood elf gear similar to the warrior/hunter/rogue/paladin starting gear. Usually a tunic with colored shoulders and upper chest with intricate patterns of yellow/gold curls. There are only two chest pieces for transmog available to hunters- a green and red version. I incorporated the red version with the Battleforged set for a nice Blood Elf styled red and yellow outfit.

-After the attack on Quel'Thalas, Marpessa supported the Blood Elves joining the Horde. She was also a strong supporter of taking the fight to Northrend after the events of the Burning Crusade. However, many of the Farstriders did not fully share in her beliefs and she grew restless at their unwillingness to act swiftly. Marpessa's faith in the structure was also shattered from her experience in Quel'Thalas, and although wrongly so, she blamed much of the bloodshed on failed leadership. Marpessa left her post within the Farstriders to join the Kor'kron Vanguard as they headed into Northrend.
Northrend Outfit

The outfit itself is based on the Kor'kron Sniper NPCs that you see in Ice Crown Citadel. I wanted her outfit to feel more uniform then the rest.

-After the Lich King's fall, Marpessa stayed with the Kor'kron Vanguard in the Borean Tundra until the Cataclysm hit. She had developed a close relationship with an orc shaman during her travels through Northrend, and ended up following him when he returned to the Earthen Ring to help defend Azeroth from Deathwing.
Cataclysm/Earthen Ring Outfit

This outfit...is kinda...slutty for my taste. But she has a great body so why not? I wanted a shaman feel to her outfit, considering she's been spending so much time with them, but I also wanted her to still be a hunter. I really love the look of the Ten Storms tier for the hunters, and I do like the recolor as well. It's an odd coloring to be sure (when I think shamans, I don't really think purples and greens) but it's unique and I think, overall, a nice set.

-Ultimately, Marpessa is called back to the Farstriders when Halduron, Vol'jin and Vereesa Windrunner, combine their forces to stop the Zandalari Empire from reforming. Although deeply committed to the Horde, Marpessa felt it was time to return to the Farstriders, having learned more about herself, and realizing structure and leadership is needed for balance.
Zandalari Empire Returns

Although I wanted the outfit to return more towards the hunter roots, I couldn't possibly ignore the shaman influence that has effected her so much. I felt this outfit was more modest as well, something I thought would show her maturity. The color green is a nice shade for troll exploration too.

I hope you enjoyed this little showcase. It was a lot of fun to draw together. Maybe I'll make some more outfits later.
I will add the names and locations of each item later. Unforunately, MogIt is still down after the patch and I don't know which pieces I used exactly. If you have any questions about a piece, I can probably direct you to it so let me know. :)
